Yo end of April.. summer is almost here y’all.. We are highlighting some classics, and some new music this week. Letsss gooo
April 28th, we had 2 great releases… First in 1992, “Paid the Cost” released by Penthouse Players Clique. The only album from this group, the LP was released on Ruthless Records. Produced mainly by Dj Quik, this has the only cut with Eazy E and Dj Quik .. with track 4, Trust no. Quik is also featured on another cut, PS Phuk U 2.. this album is that true westcoast 90s pimp sound.

1993 also on April 28, an album totally on another spectrum. Freestyle Fellowship, Inner-city Griots. This group help changed the game.. towards that backpack, scatta rap, highly lyrical westcoast music. Highly influenced by Jazz, this album had production from the OG Daddy-O from stetasonic… He produced their instant classic, Inner City Boundaries. Love this album.. this album also introduced Volume 10 and Ganja K.

Ok now to some dope new releases.. from West LA we have Yelo Hill. He has Native American roots, and previous did some acting on shows like “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Thats so Raven”. He is apart of the influence of Nipsey in my opinion… you can hear the influence on his subject matter and flow. His album “Growth is Gangsta” is in the mix.

Next we got an album “Rapture” from 1st Generation .. supergroup.. which consists of Kurupt, Mc Eight, Tha Chill, King T, Jayo Felony and Gangsta. These are the 1st generation of G music. Bringing back that tradition. Man now this got that classic westcoast G funk sound. You will not be disappointed. Slap all this .. cuz its in the mix. Im out!!
