WSRR 8.25

We start this off by wishing a heavenly Born Day to Shock G of Digital Underground. This past weekend in Oakland, Shock G was celebrated by a Block Party and tribute show. We send his family and friends much Love. Of Course some of his music in the MIX tonight.

We are also throwing it back to a classic Westcoast party album, that came out this week in 1993. August 24th the Alkaholiks dropped their debut album “21 & Over”. Founded by the Triple OG King Tee, the Likwit Crew has done so much for Westcoast hip hop, starting with this album.

The album overall is short, about 35 minutes, but is packed with back to back bumps. The first track “Likwit” is blessed by the OG himself King Tee, Lootpack makes a cameo on “Turn the Party Out” and Deadly Threat on “Who Dem Niggas”.

Helping popularize the west coast party hip hop sound, this album is filled with references to drinking and smoking.. and well partying. The Alkaholiks originally the Educated Street Poets, and then The Liks consist of DJ/Producer E-Swift, J-ro, and Tash. J-ro the only member originally from LA, these MCees came together to form an early west coast super group. Prepare to party WEstcoast style, the album is in the mix all week.
