Big Salute Ya Bornday! – Redman vs. Reggie Noble Manga Dolo
Sure, people know Stevie Wonder is one of the most genius, prolific musicians and song-writers of our time. He has definitely received his flowers by now. Still, one album seems to be underrated to this day. His 1987 Motown release Characters did not chart as highly as many expected it to, but that does not diminish from its impact on my life.
Characters has a song for all seasons. The lead track “You Will Know” can easily soak a towel on first play so be ready. He has a few bangers on the album too like “Skeletons” , “One of a Kind” , “Get It” (featuring his cousin Michael Jackson) and the DC club anthem “My Eyes Don’t Cry No More”. The remaining tracks are lead by the deep, inspirational “Dark and Lovely” and “Galaxy Paradise”. Above all, it could be said the most powerful song on this album is the anthem “Free”. Words cannot do this album justice so play this whole album and be ready to sense the universe in ways you never have before.
