As a traditional Hip-Hop crate digger, I spend so so much time still enjoying many of the Jazz greats (especially Hard Bop) from decades past. I have to consciously remind myself to stay open for new artists. Brother Immanuel Wilkins make my job much easier. His 2020 debut, Omega, primed the industry for what could follow. This year’s sophomore release, The 7th Hand, not only hit the mark, he raised the bar. Its a cleansing, grateful, spiritual journey. With his saxophone he pays homage to the ancestors, while simultaneously rising towards a better tomorrow, almost in a blues fashion. Honestly, my words cannot do this album justice. You have to listen. Matter fact, listen with your eyes closed to heal and ascend.
