Soul Birthdays 2.24-3.2

Roberta Flack performs at the San Sebastian Jazz Festival in Spain in 2005.

We are mourning the transition of the Queen #RobertaFlack

Roberta Flack revolutionized Black music with her soulful, classically influenced sound, blending jazz, R&B, and folk to create timeless hits like Killing Me Softly with His Song and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Her emotive storytelling and elegant vocal delivery paved the way for future generations of soul and R&B artists, leaving an indelible mark on Black music and beyond.

We mourn the loss of Chris Jasper, legendary musician and former member of The Isley Brothers, who passed away at 73 after a battle with cancer. His genius on the keys and songwriting helped shape timeless Isley Brothers hits like For the Love of You and Between the Sheets, leaving a lasting impact on R&B and funk.

We honor them with their musical contributions in the mix this week!
